Legislation introduced in NSW
On Thursday, June 25, Independent MP, Alex Greenwich, introduced the Public Health Amendment (Natural Organic Reduction) Bill 2026 into the NSW Legislative Assembly. This bill will be voted on in September, 2026.
You can read Alex’s excellent speech that outlines the reasons this legislation is needed and why it should be passed here, on the NSW Government’s website. You can follow any amendments that get lodged here.
The passing of this bill is the first domino that needs to fall before Earthly Legacy can really start applying for funding or launching a fundraising campaign to create our first non-profit human composting facility, as we can’t fundraise to do something that is illegal!
If you’d like to help us get this legislation through parliament - and you live in NSW - please contact your local State MP by email, phone or meeting with them to urge them to vote for this bill in September. Remember, there might be objections from other voters in your electorate, so make sure that part of your appeal to your MP is the fact that it is a choice you’d like available to you and/or your family and why it is important to you. If others don’t like the idea, remember… it’s not compulsory!
